China has launched a robot that can run day and night, 24/7, without getting restless—and on top of that, it replaces its own batteries!
The name of this robot is Walker S2, which is made by UBTECH Robotics.
What's special about it?
When the robot's battery runs low, it automatically goes to the charger station, takes out the old battery and inserts it into the charging dock, and inserts the new fully charged battery into its back—without human help!
The entire battery replacement process is completed in just 3 minutes. Therefore, this robot can work continuously, without interruption.
The height is 5 feet 3 inches, and it is quite flexible, meaning it can move its arms and legs smoothly — just like humans do.
What does this mean?
Earlier robots had to stop to charge, but the Walker S2 does not do this, it increases the work time.
Factories and malls where this robot will be used, work will be going on without interruption, which is very beneficial for productivity.
This robot automatically decides when the battery is running out and when the battery should be replaced. Meaning there is also AI in it which takes smart decisions.
What did you see in the footage?
In the video that has been released, the robot comes alone to its charger, takes out the battery, puts the old battery in the charger, then puts the new battery back in and starts its work. All this happens smoothly, just like a human.
Will this be necessary in the future?
Absolutely! As robots and AI improve, we need machines that can do their own maintenance — only then will robots grow more and humans will be free from work.
In short, this Walker S2 robot from China is a big step forward in the world of robotics, which shows how independent robots can be in the future.
